A Study in the Long-Term Performance of Specialized Low Friction Hermetically Sealed Fluid Viscous Dampers under Nearly Continuous Operation on a Pedestrian Bridge
In 2012, 3 dampers were removed from London’s Millennium Bridge in the U.K. and subjected to a periodic re-test after 10+ years of service. The number of cycles each damper had been subjected to at this point in their service life was estimated at 3 x 108 reversed cycles. After the successful periodic re-test, the dampers were returned to service.
