T-Mobile Park (formerly Safeco Field) is a baseball stadium for the Seattle Mariners that was completed in 1999 and is located close to the Seattle Fault. This project utilizes eight, 800-kip dampers (the largest dampers used for building applications at the time of construction), which were mounted on each of the three retractable roof panels. The FVDs reduced the overall lateral forces of the structure due to the roof by 50% allowing for a reduction in steel and saving the project over $5M in construction costs. In addition to the 8 FVDs, Taylor Devices provided 36 hydraulic buffers to reduce impact loads from the moving roof sections with respect to each other and the base structure as end stops.
