Taylor Devices is a proud supplier of a wide range of shear pins, mounting pins, and journal bearings/guides for use in shock & vibration isolation systems, damper assemblies, spring assemblies and more.
Our proprietary superfinishing techniques accurately control the magnitude and direction of surface finishes so that friction can be controlled, especially for high-speed dynamic applications. Many of our finishes include a proprietary Teflon-based finish for even tighter frictional control. Our finishing processes and specifications have continuously evolved since 1955 to maintain superior performance and to maintain compatibility with current machining and finishing technology.
Virtually all of our structural dampers for the past 25+ years have been supplied with tight-fitting mounting pins. These include approximately 800 projects worldwide. Shear pins are supplied for maintaining uni-axial response of an isolated structure. Journal Bearings / Guides are designed according to specific project-related requirements.
In certain cases, engineers have relied on Taylor Devices to provide entire mounting hardware for damper systems. For example, in 2017 Taylor Devices provided fluid viscous dampers for Loma Linda University Medical Center. We also provided vertical pins, up to 12 inches in diameter, that can be used in conjunction with the base isolation system to suspend the entire hospital.
