In 2018, UCLA Pritzker Hall (formerly Franz Hall) underwent a complete seismic upgrade. This 8-story concrete moment frame structure had seismic upgrades completed on the lower six floors. Upgrades included FRP wrap on beams and columns and the addition of 40 Fluid Viscous Dampers (FVDs). The FVDs were used to reduce the seismic drift and limit the extent of FRP strengthening that was required.
